Indie Art Workx

Picture
Local mom of two and artist, Ant Janzen is the owner of Indie Art Workx. She creates custom murals and personalized art work for your child. A student of Fine Arts at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg, South Africa she has been practicing some art form or another ever since. “I enjoy meeting new people and exchanging new ideas.

If you are looking to brighten up a playroom/bedroom/nursery/entrance hall  or just to add a splash of creativity somewhere, we can brainstorm together on how to inject some life into your walls.”

If you and your little one have spent any time at Jumping Jiminy’s, some of Ant’s fantastic murals grace the walls in the birthday room

All murals and artwork are painted with high grade, artists acrylic paints, so there is quick dry time and no odour. A sealant is used so walls can be wiped down,  (if need be). We all know those little curious, sticky fingers like  bright, colorful shiny things.

Maman Bidule

Picture
Handmade stuff for babies and toddlers made locally by mommy Valerie Vielleux-Beadle. Her merchadise is super cute and a lot of it is made from re-purposed materials, like vintage leather jackets. It has a very vintage vibe to it as well which is a nice touch. Check out the pictures to see what we mean.

Gentle Choices for Eco-Friendly Families from local eco-entrepreneur Cristi Lundman

Huckleberry Baby Shop stocks a wide variety of  eco-friendly  products for you and your baby. While they specialize in cloth diapering and baby wearing they do have lots of other unique products which you can shop for online at their website or by visiting their store here in Nanaimo.

"Huckleberry Baby Shop is my way of trying to bring a large range of cloth diapering products closer to home for parents in the Nanaimo area. We want cloth diapering to work for your family!  In order to assist you in choosing the system which best suits the needs of your unique family, we offer several programs, including one-on-one consultations in the comfort of your own home, cloth diapering workshops, and now our Cloth Diaper Trial Program. "

"The Huckleberry Baby Shop Cloth Diaper Trial Program is the first of its kind in the Nanaimo area, allowing families to try out a variety of our most popular diapers for a two week period.  You will be provided with everything you need including diapers, inserts, a diaper storage bag (in lieu if a diaper pail), a waterproof bag for storing wet & soiled diapers when you're out, cloth wipes, wipes solution, a Snappi fastener, laundry detergent, and disposable liners if your baby is on solids.  You will also be provided with washing instructions and a detailed picture list of exactly what is in your trial package and how to use each item."

"This is a perfect opportunity for families who are curious about cloth diapering but are not sure enough to make a purchase.  Find out what this new and eco-friendly trend is really all about!"

The cost for two weeks rental of the trial package is $39.99.

Baby wearing is another passion of mine.  I stock a variety of different baby carriers and am happy to share my experience to assist in finding an option that works for you!

"I have been a nurse for 12.5 years and have extensive experience working with expectant parents, infants, and young families.  Supporting parents in making gentle choices for their families and the environment is of utmost importance to me. "
